It's Been A While...
Hello everyone. It's great to see you! ...Or well, more like the number of views on these blogs. I know each number is a person and that means more than words to me. I know I've kept you all waiting with this post. After one post, I'm already late. I'm deeply sorry about that. In fact, I owe you all an explanation.
What Happened To Last Week's Newsletter?
Schoolwork. I underestimated the amount of schoolwork I would have. I was finishing two courses that week as well as a research project for the other. This last course has its final exam this coming Friday which also means I've been studying. On top of this, It was my younger sister's 18th birthday, so we were celebrating that. We were also celebrating my 20th birthday as my family's schedule isn't aligning well with it.
While I initially planned to write these posts every week, I was writing them on the Wednesday of release. In fact, it's what I'm doing right now with this post at 23:00... However, this means I'm completely reliant on Wednesday's schedule, and while I did try writing this on my phone, it didn't work for a good while; furthermore, when it did, it wasn't very intuitive to use. That said, Blogger has a draft feature, so I will be making use of that and writing when I can throughout the week. I will edit everything Tuesday or Wednesday, but there will be Wednesday releases from this point onward.
Easy Breezy Games News
RPG
Now, onto the news part of the newsletter.
I haven't messed around too much with RPG Maker since I've been busy with classwork, but I do have a draft of a world map. So far, the world is a series of floating islands (thanks to RPG Maker's presets) with one of the islands having a castle on it with a mine that reaches the end of the island, leaving a massive hole in the middle of it. I'm still messing around with ideas and tiles though if I'm being completely honest.
That said, there's also the issue of RPG Maker version. I have copies of XP and VX Ace. However, I have access to my family's Steam libraries now, and my dad has MZ. Since I'm still VERY early in development, I'm debating which engine to learn: XP, VX Ace, or MZ. I'm currently thinking that I should switch to MZ, but I'm open to hearing your thoughts on this in the comments.
New Team Members?
Despite still currently being a one (wo)man project, I've been talking with some of my friends, and I think in time we'll have a fine team going. They've each got their own stuff going on at the moment, but in the future they'll probably come on board for different things: either one off things or maybe potential staff members. Regardless, the team is growing... at least in spirit.
TWIF
Although I didn't find the time to write this post, These Weeks I Found some cool music.
You've Gotta Check Out This Chill Artist
While studying, I found a video by the artist Muun. I've been on YouTube long enough to know a thumbnail like this means good music, and wow Muun is really amazing! Some would say the art is a bit suggestive, but the music is top notch. Definitely worth listening to.
I'm Obsessed With This Mashup
Sonic Rush came out in 2005 which is the same year I came out... of the womb... not out of the closet hehe. Anyway, I grew up with this game, and What U Need is one of, if not, my favourite song from that soundtrack. Hideki Naganuma is AMAZING!!! A couple months ago, I found this song called Ain't Nothing Like A Funky Beat. I thought it was an incredible song that emulated the style of the Sonic Rush soundtrack flawlessly. It did not take long for me to realize that the reason for that is because the same artist that made the Sonic Rush soundtrack also made that song. I also thought it sounded pretty similar to What U Need and so I looked to see if anyone had combined them. El-Chubbo had me covered with this spectacular mashup! For the full experience, I recommend listening to What U Need, then the Blazy Mix, next Ain't Nothin' Like A Funky Beat. With that, this mashup should go EXTRA HARD!!!
That's All For Now
Once again, I apologize for the lack of newsletter last week, and that this one isn't all too long either. However, next week I should have a fair bit more news. Stay tuned! As I wrote last time, send things in the comments you think are neat, and I'll check them out. There's also the Discord where you can chat and see more live updates. I'm also on BlueSky if that's more your thing. I also post drawings and random thoughts on there. Now, that the shameless promotion and engagement stuff if out of the way, I'd like to thank you for reading. I hope you have a great week!
